

The White House has praised India’s strong economic growth after the country recorded a 7.8 percent expansion in its gross domestic product (GDP), according to recently released official data. White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai described the Indian economy as highly dynamic, robust and resilient.
Speaking to a news agency on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers’ meeting in North Carolina, Desai said the latest GDP figures had further strengthened the Trump administration’s confidence in India as a rapidly growing economic power. He said the development was highly encouraging for both the US government and American businesses.
Desai noted that the United States was encouraging American companies to invest in India while also welcoming Indian investments in the US. He emphasized that President Donald Trump attaches great importance to India-US relations and frequently speaks about his friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Desai expressed hope that the two countries would hold more productive discussions in the coming days. He also said negotiations on the proposed trade agreement had moved from the political level to the technical stage, with expert teams working on specific issues such as HTS codes used for classifying imports.
