

At Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, Minister for Civil Supplies Uttam Kumar Reddy conducted a special review meeting on establishing a modern grain storage system across Telangana. The government is planning a major reform in grain procurement and storage by setting up advanced silo terminals in 23 districts. The initiative aims to create a weather-proof, automated, and scientific storage network capable of protecting paddy from rain, moisture, pests, and other natural challenges.
As part of the proposal, Telangana is planning to establish 82 silo terminals with a total storage capacity of 47.5 lakh metric tonnes. Preliminary discussions are underway for implementing the project with an estimated investment of Rs 4,450 crore. The government aims to modernize grain storage, transportation, and distribution systems while ensuring quality preservation and long-term safe storage. Officials stated that the project will help provide better services to farmers and quality rice to consumers.
