The Telangana government has approached the High Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to BRS MLCs Thatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy in a case involving alleged derogatory remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The case relates to an incident during the Assembly session when the two legislators were accused of making objectionable comments against the Speaker. The Nampally court had earlier granted them bail. Challenging that order, the police filed a criminal petition before the High Court seeking permission to take the legislators into custody for further investigation.
During the hearing, State Public Prosecutor Palle Nageshwar Rao, representing the government and police, argued that the alleged remarks were made deliberately and requested the court to cancel the bail. However, the counsel representing the two BRS MLCs denied the allegations and maintained that they had not insulted the Speaker. After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court reserved its order on the petition. The court's decision is awaited. <Cite refs={["turn671098search0","turn671098search7"]}/>
