The Rajya Sabha, considered one of the highest legislative bodies in India, is now in focus after a report revealed that several members have criminal cases against them. According to the latest analysis of affidavits, out of 229 Members of Parliament who submitted their details, 73 have declared criminal cases. This has raised serious concerns about the quality of representation in the Upper House.
The report further highlighted that a few MPs are facing serious charges, including cases related to severe crimes. Party-wise data shows multiple members across major political parties with such cases. Additionally, another notable finding is that several MPs have declared significant wealth, with dozens identifying themselves as extremely wealthy. These revelations have triggered fresh debates on political accountability and candidate selection.
