The Telangana Cabinet has approved the historic “Telangana Employees Accountability and Monitoring of Parental Support Bill, 2026,” aiming to ensure financial support for dependent parents. As per the proposed law, employees from government, public, and private sectors who neglect their parents will face a direct deduction from their salaries. The move is being seen as a significant step towards strengthening family responsibility and social accountability.
Under this legislation, 15% of the employee’s salary or ₹10,000, whichever is lower, will be deducted and transferred directly to the parents’ bank accounts through designated officials. The bill is expected to create a strong legal framework to protect elderly parents and ensure their financial security, while also sending a clear message about the importance of caring for one’s family.
