Ippili Sai Sri, who hails from Rayagada in neighbouring Odisha, is testing her political fortunes in Andhra Pradesh. She has filed her nomination as the YSR Congress Party candidate for the Parvathipuram Municipal Chairperson post. Her entry into the contest has drawn attention in Rayagada and Gunupur, with reports suggesting that she is set to face a strong challenge from the ruling Telugu Desam Party candidate.
Sai Sri’s family lives in New Colony in Rayagada. Her late father, Ippili Mohana Rao, worked as a lecturer at a college in Rayagada. After marrying Sai Kiran Patnana, she moved to Parvathipuram and later became active in the YSR Congress Party. Reports also suggest that she shares a close association with party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Several relatives, well-wishers and community figures from Rayagada are reportedly contacting people in Parvathipuram and supporting her campaign. Rayagada Kalinga Vysya Association president Kinthali Amarnath, Majjiga Gouramma Temple Trust member Ippili Sanyasi Raju and Kottakota Nareen Kumundhan have expressed their intention to visit Parvathipuram and work for her victory.
