Former Telangana minister and Deputy Floor Leader Sabitha Indra Reddy has strongly criticised the police, alleging that an emergency like situation prevails in the state. She claimed that she was placed under house arrest even though her party had not called for any protest. According to her, a large number of police personnel were deployed outside her residence from as early as 4 a.m. and kept watch. She questioned the reason for the police action, stating that she had no plans to participate in any protest.
Sabitha Indra Reddy also questioned why she was being restricted in connection with the public opinion-gathering exercise for people affected by the Musi beautification project. She asked what connection she had with the public consultation process and asserted that she was not going to participate in any demonstrations. Criticising the police for placing her under house arrest without, she said, any clear reason, she demanded an explanation for the action. Her remarks have raised questions about the police measures taken in connection with the Musi project-related developments.
