Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that neither he nor Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan would make any compromise on the issue of law and order in the state. He warned that ignoring criminals who operate under the guise of politics would endanger public safety.
He emphasized that the police force must remain constantly alert, as the nature of crimes is changing, and called for proactive policing based on anticipation and intelligence. The Chief Minister stated that the government has given complete freedom to the police and assured that capable officers would be given priority. He said that maintaining strong law and order is essential to transform Andhra Pradesh into a healthy, wealthy, and happy state.
Speaking at a programme held in Mangalagiri, where appointment letters were distributed to newly selected constables, the Chief Minister remarked that in the past, criminals neither entered politics nor received political support. However, he said the situation had deteriorated in recent years. Criminals are not smarter than the police, he added, and crimes would not occur if offenders feared the efficiency of the police force.
He advised the police to function like a “third eye,” operating discreetly while effectively controlling crime, and stressed the importance of using technology for crime prevention. While expressing great respect for women, he criticised the previous government for allowing a situation where women were allegedly used as shields for criminal activities.
Referring to police recruitment, Chandrababu Naidu said the previous government delayed the process, whereas the present government completed the recruitment transparently despite legal hurdles. He clarified that no political recommendations were made in the selection process.
A total of 6,014 candidates have been selected in this recruitment drive, including 3,043 Civil Constables, 2,414 APSP Constables, 993 women, and 183 tribal youth.
The Chief Minister also announced a significant increase in the training stipend for constables, raising it from ₹4,500 to ₹12,500, which was met with applause from the recruits. He concluded by stating that providing employment and ensuring security for the youth of the state remains the government’s responsibility.
