New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally appeared before the Supreme Court to present her arguments in the ongoing case related to the Special Integrated Revision (SIR) of the voter list. She informed the court that she had written six letters to the Election Commission regarding the SIR process. Mamata clarified that she was not fighting for political gain but to protect democratic justice and fairness.
Banerjee alleged that several irregularities took place during the voter list revision in Bengal. She questioned why Aadhaar verification is accepted in other states but rejected in Bengal. Highlighting the issue of 5.8 million deleted votes, Mamata stated that under the name of SIR, fake votes are not being deleted - they are being added instead.
Overall, she described the case as a fight to safeguard democracy. All eyes are now on the Supreme Court to see what verdict it delivers in this significant case.
