The Jubilee Hills by-election has become the talk of Telangana, but the voter pulse remains a mystery. Even a week after the nominations closed, candidates from major parties are campaigning aggressively across colonies and streets — yet no one seems to know what’s truly on the voters’ minds. Wherever candidates go, voters greet them warmly, promising, “Our votes are for you!” But on polling day, will those words still hold true? That uncertainty is haunting both candidates and party strategists, who are unable to estimate how many solid votes they actually have.
The campaign has now reached full swing. Ministers, MLAs, MPs, and senior leaders from both ruling and opposition parties are working tirelessly on the ground. Each key leader has been assigned responsibility for about 1,000 to 1,200 votes, backed by teams of 50 workers campaigning door to door from morning till late night. Interestingly, the same voters who assure one party of full support say the exact same thing to the rival candidates too. “Our word is our promise,” they say, boosting the morale of every campaigner who visits them. As a result, every party is convinced of its own victory — creating a fascinating illusion across Jubilee Hills.
With voters pledging support to everyone and keeping their real choice secret, confusion and anxiety have spread among all contenders. Some locals even admit privately that they’ll simply claim to have voted for whoever wins. This unpredictable voter mood has turned the Jubilee Hills by-election into a suspense-filled political thriller.
