Harish Rao Hits Out at Congress Over Power Cuts

Former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao conducted a surprise inspection of the Motakondur electricity substation amid complaints from farmers about power supply. He questioned officials over the absence of the substation logbook and sought details on power supply timings, interruptions, tripping and the number of hours of three-phase electricity supplied to farmers. Harish Rao said such records were necessary to establish the actual power supply situation and questioned why the logbook was not available when the inspection was conducted.

Harish Rao said farmers in Motakondur had complained that they were receiving only around six to seven hours of power in some instances and that their crops were being affected. He urged local MLA Beerla Ilaiah and Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy to visit the substations, review the situation and respond to farmers’ concerns. He also said details of his family’s properties were already disclosed in election affidavits and income-tax returns, and claimed that the Aziz Nagar land referred to by the ruling side had been disclosed in records years ago.

The BRS leader also alleged that properties of some Congress leaders were located in FTL or shikam areas and demanded that the government examine those properties as well. He referred to the residences of the Chief Minister’s brother, Government Whip Mahender Reddy and Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, and sought action if they were found to be in restricted areas. He further alleged that cases and counter-allegations were being used to divert attention from issues raised by the BRS over Section 22-A lands and other land-related matters.

Harish Rao called on the government to focus on providing quality electricity and irrigation water to farmers and implementing its election promises. He said the BRS would continue to raise public issues and would launch further protests until farmers received adequate and quality power supply. Harish Rao has previously raised similar concerns over agricultural electricity supply after inspecting other substations and examining their records.
