Fadnavis Hits Back at Rahul Gandhi Over Mimicry

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has sharply reacted to the mimicry controversy at the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Indore, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was imitated during a stage act involving Rahul Gandhi and stand-up comedian Pulkit Mani. Fadnavis mocked Rahul Gandhi, saying that he could find employment as a stand-up comedian and alleging that he had already turned the Congress into an “unemployed” political party. Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi also criticised Gandhi’s conduct, alleging that his remarks reflected political immaturity and were inappropriate for the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi, however, defended Gandhi, describing the incident as a simple act of mimicry and saying there was nothing objectionable about it. The episode has triggered a fresh political exchange between the BJP and Congress after videos from the event circulated on social media. The BJP alleged that the stage act mocked Prime Minister Modi and references involving his late mother, while Congress leaders have defended the episode as political satire.
