Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing global war-like situation. Referring to the reported sinking of an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean, Rahul Gandhi said the conflict has effectively entered India’s neighbourhood. He stated that the country requires strong and decisive leadership in such challenging times, but alleged that the Prime Minister has remained silent on the issue. In a post on X on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi accused Modi of compromising India’s strategic autonomy by yielding to the influence of the United States.
Rahul Gandhi also warned about potential risks to India’s energy security amid the escalating tensions. He pointed out that nearly 40 percent of India’s oil imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Given the current geopolitical situation, he expressed concern that supplies of LPG and CNG could also face disruptions. He urged the central government to clarify its stance and take necessary measures to safeguard India’s energy supply and national interests.
