Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited the J. Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme (JCRDLIS) in Mulugu district and conducted a detailed review of the project’s progress. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ministers Seethakka and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, CM Advisor Vem Narendra Reddy, MP Balaram Naik, MLAs, and senior irrigation officials participated in the inspection and review meeting. The Chief Minister stated that political allegations and misinformation have no place at a time when efforts are being made to transform North Telangana into a fertile agricultural region.
During the review meeting, Revanth Reddy said several irrigation projects in Telangana were neglected during the united state period and emphasized the government’s commitment to completing pending projects, including Devadula. He asserted that Telangana would safeguard its rightful share in Godavari waters and noted that timely completion of projects in the past would have brought greater benefits to the state. Despite the increased project cost, the government aims to accelerate works and complete the project within the next two years.
The Chief Minister announced that ₹600 crore would be sanctioned before June 2 for land acquisition related to the project. He directed officials to complete repairs of the Devadula pump house within one month. A special corpus fund will be created for land acquisition for irrigation projects across Telangana, and compensation to affected landowners will be released through a fast-track green channel system. He also stated that a special meeting would be held during the Assembly budget session to review and approve all project estimates.
