

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged the Union government to extend greater support to the state under the Purvodaya and SASKY schemes. He also requested dedicated budgetary allocations to develop the Rayalaseema region as a horticulture hub.
The Chief Minister sought central assistance for the Polavaram – Nallamala Sagar Link Project, aimed at diverting Godavari floodwaters to address drinking water and irrigation needs in drought-prone regions. A detailed representation was submitted to the Union Minister in this regard.
CM Naidu thanked the Centre for its continued support to irrigation projects in Andhra Pradesh and explained that the project aims to divert 200 TMC of floodwater from the Polavaram dam to water-scarce areas. He stated that the project would significantly help in mitigating drought conditions across the state.
He informed that the project would be implemented in three phases and that cost details had been submitted to the Union Finance Minister. A dedicated Jalaharathi Corporation has already been established, and a preliminary project report has been submitted to the Union Jal Shakti Ministry. The DPR will be submitted after receiving initial approvals.
The Chief Minister requested financial assistance for the project on the lines of the support extended for Amaravati capital construction. He added that the project would provide irrigation and drinking water to drought-affected districts such as Prakasam, Rayalaseema, and Nellore, and urged allocation of funds in the 2026–27 Union Budget.
