Tollywood actress Lakshmi Manchu has sparked discussion with her candid remarks about her family and career. She said that despite her father Mohan Babu and brothers Vishnu and Manoj being part of the film industry, the family name did not always help her professional growth and, at times, became an obstacle. Lakshmi stated that she had to fight for her own identity and expressed the view that her film career might have reached even greater heights had she not been born into the Manchu family.
Lakshmi also said that she often faced questions whenever she wanted to try something different. She further claimed that she was the first in the family to prominently use the surname ‘Manchu’ in the film industry, drawing it from her grandfather’s name. According to her, Vishnu and Manoj had initially used different versions of their names before the Manchu surname became more widely associated with the family.
