BJP Dominates Rajasthan Mayoral Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won six of the seven mayoral posts declared so far in Rajasthan. The BJP secured victories in Ajmer, Pali, Udaipur and Alwar, while its candidates had already been elected unopposed in Bharatpur and Bhilwara. Congress won the Bikaner mayoral election, with its candidate Anil Kalla securing 50 of the 80 votes cast.

The results in Ajmer and Pali came despite Congress having more councillors than the BJP in both corporations. BJP's Anamika Sharma won in Ajmer, while Namita Bubakia became Pali's first elected woman mayor. Paras Singhi was elected mayor of Udaipur and Sumanlata Agrawal won in Alwar. Mayor elections in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota were deferred following EVM-related issues and are scheduled for September 25.
