A protest staged by Bhumana Abhinay Reddy in Andhra Pradesh over fuel shortage has sparked controversy over alleged animal cruelty. During the demonstration in Tirupati, an auto-rickshaw was placed on a bullock cart, with people sitting both inside the vehicle and on the cart. The excessive load reportedly caused distress to the bull, and a video of the incident quickly went viral on social media. Netizens, political critics, and animal rights activists condemned the act, questioning the use of animals for political protests.
Reacting strongly, popular anchor and actress Rashmi Gautam expressed outrage over the incident. Taking to Instagram, she stated that the suffering endured by the bull should be returned a thousandfold to those responsible. She urged organizations like PETA and the Animal Welfare Board of India to take immediate action. Rashmi also recalled a recent incident involving the killing of 40 husky dogs, raising concerns over increasing cruelty towards animals and questioning accountability.
