Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the people of Andhra Pradesh are united in their opinion that Amaravati should be the state capital. He described the approval of the bill granting legal status to Amaravati as a historic milestone in the state's journey. He also said that it is an emotional moment for Telugu people across the world. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha during the discussion on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Amendment Bill 2026, he recalled that the state faced a significant revenue deficit and uncertainty after bifurcation. He noted that Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership provided hope during that challenging period.
The minister highlighted the contribution of farmers who voluntarily gave large tracts of land for the capital project within a short time, calling it a remarkable effort. He also criticized the previous government's three-capital proposal, stating that it created confusion and instability in the state. Despite challenges, he said, people remained united in supporting Amaravati.
He added that in the 2024 elections, the alliance received a strong mandate as people backed the promise to rebuild Amaravati. Support from all regions of the state reflects a collective agreement on the capital issue, he said.
