Netflix Acquires ‘Raakaasaa’ OTT Rights!

Niharika Konidela is actively producing web series and small films with a focus on youth-oriented content. Her recent production, ‘Raakaasaa’, made in collaboration with Umesh Kumar Bansal, is a horror-comedy thriller. The film gained good buzz even before release due to strong promotions and positive interest from audiences.

The film stars Sangeeth Shobhan and Nayan Sarika in lead roles. It was released in theatres on April 3 and received decent success at the box office, as audiences connected well with its content. Following its theatrical run, the OTT rights have been acquired by Netflix, which has increased its reach and popularity.

The story follows Veeru, who returns from abroad for the woman he loves, only to find she is about to marry someone else. In trying to stop the wedding, he falls in love with Subbalakshmi. As per village tradition, Veeru ends up entering a dangerous Rakshasa cave as part of a ritual. What happens inside the cave and how Subbalakshmi tries to save him forms the rest of the story. The film is expected to stream on Netflix either by the end of this month or early next month, with an official announcement expected soon.
