Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the Gram Panchayat elections were held two years after the formation of the people's government, and he expressed his gratitude to the people for giving their complete support to the Congress party in these elections.
He said that out of 12,702 Gram Panchayats, Congress won in 7,527 places and Congress rebels won in 808 places. He revealed that Congress and Congress rebels together won in 8,335 Gram Panchayats, meaning 66 percent of the results were in favor of Congress. He stated that the BRS-BJP alliance secured 33 percent of the results, and the Communist parties secured 1 percent.
The Chief Minister addressed the media along with his ministers at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Thursday. He congratulated the officials for conducting the Panchayat elections without any shortcomings. He stated that these results represent the people's verdict on two years of people-centric governance.
He also mentioned that the people have given their mandate to Congress in the Cantonment and Jubilee Hills by-elections as well. He said that out of 94 assembly constituencies where local body elections were held, Congress achieved the highest results in 87 constituencies. He added that BRS secured the highest results in 6 constituencies and BJP in 1 constituency. He said that the people supported them because of schemes such as providing fine rice to the poor, free electricity, a bonus for jowar crops, gas cylinders for Rs. 500, Indiramma houses, 200 units of free electricity, interest-free loans for women's self-help groups, implementation of SC categorization, and a caste census. He said that along with the six guarantees, they have also provided freedom to the people as the seventh guarantee.
He stated that they conducted the elections in a free and fair environment and never took decisions that would influence the elections by misusing their positions. He said that they did not become arrogant after winning, and these results have only increased their responsibility.
He alleged that the BJP is conspiring to weaken the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme by changing its name. He said that the protection of democracy is possible only with the Congress party. He criticized that some people's arrogance has not diminished even after the people made them sit in the opposition.
He commented that one person has more poison in his heart than the pollution in the Musi River. He said that some people are patting themselves on the back, calling these results a miracle. He expressed confidence that the same results will be repeated in 2029, and the Congress will come back to power with a two-thirds majority.
He advised them not to obstruct the welfare of the people with their anger and jealousy. He said that they will make Telangana the number one state in the country. He said that they had defeated KCR and brought the Congress party to power while he was still active in politics, and now he is no longer active in politics.
He said he was directly challenging KCR and asked him to write a letter as the leader of the opposition. He stated that they are ready for a discussion on who committed injustice regarding the Krishna river waters, and that they would arrange special sessions whenever necessary. He said they are ready for a discussion in the assembly on the Godavari and Krishna river waters.
He alleged that compared to the undivided state, BRS and KCR had committed irreparable betrayal against the people of Telangana in the last ten years. He stated that they would prove, with evidence, the betrayal they committed regarding the Godavari and Krishna river waters.
He clarified that they would proceed democratically by discussing the 42 percent BC reservations in the assembly. He commented that BRS has not won any election since KTR took over as working president, and that Harish Rao's faction has started a social media campaign to remove KTR. He added that this is why KTR has started touring the districts, to prevent this issue from being discussed.
