Tennis legend Serena Williams has reportedly opened a hospital in her name to provide free medical treatment for the poor, and the facility was inaugurated by Serena herself. According to reports, the 44-year-old has spent her entire $500 million fortune to build a 1,200-bed hospital in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles, offering completely free services to the homeless and the uninsured. Media reports in the country claim that her assets, investments, jewellery, and even her Grand Slam trophies were used to support the project.
It has also been reported that Serena lived at the construction site for over 100 days and worked alongside labourers despite being pregnant. News reports further state that she sold her luxury residence in Florida to purchase the final medical equipment for the hospital. Meanwhile, Serena is being widely praised across the world for setting up the hospital and her humanitarian gesture.
