Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tariq Rahman, who won a landslide victory in the Bangladesh parliamentary elections, will soon be sworn in as the Prime Minister. It is reported that invitations have been sent to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several foreign leaders for the event to be held on February 17.
National media reports have revealed that a total of 13 heads of state, including Bangladesh's interim government advisor Professor Mohammad Yunus, have been invited to the swearing-in ceremony. After the BNP victory, preparations are underway to form a new government under the leadership of Tariq Rahman.
However, it seems that Prime Minister Modi is unlikely to attend the ceremony in person as he has to attend other events with the French President on the same day. It is reported that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar or Vice President CP Radhakrishnan are likely to attend the ceremony instead of the Prime Minister.
