A total of 41 Maoist cadres, who had been living underground for decades as part of the banned CPI (Maoist) party, surrendered and joined the mainstream of society in the presence of the Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana. Among those who surrendered were key leaders, including Company Platoon Committee Members (CyPCMs) and Divisional Committee Members (DVCMs) belonging to the PLGA battalion.
The surrendered cadres also handed over 24 weapons in their possession to the police. These included:
1 INSAAS LMG
3 AK-47 rifles
5 SLR rifles
7 INSAAS rifles
1 BGL gun
4 .303 rifles
1 single-shot rifle
2 air guns
Officials stated that such a large number of cadres giving up their underground life and surrendering along with weapons is a major setback not only for the CPI (Maoist) party but also for its armed wing.
According to officials, this development clearly reflects the growing organizational failure within the Maoist party, the declining morale among cadres, and the erosion of trust in its leadership. They added that the government’s rehabilitation policies and effective policing measures have encouraged Maoist cadres to abandon violence and return to the mainstream of society.
