Sonia Gandhi discharged from hospital

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was discharged from the hospital on Saturday night after successfully recovering from an eye surgery. The procedure was performed at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. Following the surgery, she remained under medical observation for a few days before doctors confirmed her recovery and approved her discharge.

After leaving the hospital, Sonia Gandhi returned to her official residence at 10 Janpath in Delhi. During her stay, Rahul Gandhi personally visited her and enquired about her health. Although official details of the surgery were not disclosed, reports suggest it was related to age related cataract treatment. Sonia Gandhi had also undergone treatment for a systemic infection in March 2026 and a routine health check-up on May 13, 2026. Party leaders stated that her health is now stable and she will continue to rest at home for a few more days.
