The Supreme Court has issued important directions regarding the issue of street dogs and dog bite incidents. The court made it clear that if a person dies or gets injured due to a dog bite, the responsibility lies with the owner of the dog. In cases involving street dogs, the court warned that state governments cannot ignore the problem and must take proper action to control such incidents.
The Supreme Court also stated that if state governments fail to take timely and effective steps on the issue of street dogs, heavy fines will be imposed on them. The court emphasized that public safety is a priority and negligence will not be accepted.
In addition, the court ordered that if a person dies due to a dog bite, the state government must pay a substantial compensation to the victim’s family. These directions highlight the responsibility of governments to ensure safety and prevent such incidents in the future.
