The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to grant immediate relief to Raj Kesireddy in connection with the alleged liquor scam case. The Chief Justice of India stated that the court was not in a position to intervene at this stage, observing that Kesireddy appeared to be a central figure in the case and a key conspirator in the alleged ₹700 crore scam.
The apex court also remarked that spending nine months in judicial custody in such a major case could not be considered excessive. Counsel representing Kesireddy sought time to present detailed arguments, following which the CJI-led bench adjourned the hearing to Thursday.
