Devotees are arriving in large numbers for the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Maha Jatara. Although the Maha Jatara is scheduled to be held from the 28th to the 31st of this month, devotees have started coming to Medaram nearly a month in advance. The number of visitors is increasing day by day and around six lakh devotees visited the shrine in a single day. The Sammakka and Saralamma Gaddela premises were completely crowded and the surrounding areas of Medaram turned lively with devotees arriving from all directions.
Due to the heavy influx of devotees, severe traffic congestion was reported near the Mulugu Gattamma Thalli temple. Traffic remained heavy from Jagaram to Medaram and extended up to Kanepalli, Jampanna Vagu and Haritha Hotel areas. Vehicle movement was badly affected, causing major inconvenience to travelers. To control the situation, police diverted vehicles to parking areas arranged in nearby fields.
As the Maha Jatara days are approaching, the number of devotees is expected to increase further. Authorities have tightened security measures and strengthened traffic control arrangements to manage the growing crowd.
