As Hyderabad gears up to welcome the New Year, the city police have intensified safety measures, especially against drunk driving. In this context, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar shared a humorous yet impactful message on social media that quickly grabbed public attention.
In his satirical post, Sajjanar compared academic exams with road safety, saying that while scoring 35 marks in an exam might be considered a pass, crossing a blood alcohol content level of 35 means instant disqualification on the road. He pointed out that failing an exam may cost a year, but reckless driving can cost a life. Through this witty analogy, he extended advance New Year greetings while delivering a strong warning on responsible driving.
The message, written in a local Hyderabadi style, struck a chord with youngsters and motorists, turning it into a widely shared post across platforms.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Police have made elaborate arrangements for New Year celebrations. More than 120 check-posts have been set up across the city to strictly enforce drunk driving rules. Officials warned that violators would face heavy fines, vehicle seizure, possible jail terms, and cancellation of driving licences.
The police urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid driving after consuming alcohol. They advised people to use cabs or designated drivers to ensure their own safety as well as that of others.
