A serious question has emerged over why the ill-fated bus deviated from its designated route before the accident. The bus started from Jagtial in Telangana at around 5 PM on Wednesday, picking up passengers along the way from Korutla, Nirmal, Armur, Bheemgal, Sirikonda, Ramayampet, and Medchal. It was scheduled to reach Vinukonda in Palnadu district early Thursday morning and then proceed via Darsi, Podili, Kanigiri, and Pamuru to Kalikiri in Nellore district—considered the most convenient and standard route.
However, instead of following this route, the bus reportedly diverted from Vinukonda towards Yerragondapalem and Markapur. Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle, which had a permit as a contract carrier, was being operated illegally as a stage carrier by picking up passengers at multiple locations. It is believed that after dropping passengers in Yerragondapalem and Markapur, the bus was heading towards Podili when the accident occurred. Authorities are now investigating the route violation and operational irregularities that may have contributed to the tragedy.
