The central government has announced a major relief for people by significantly reducing the excise duty on petrol and diesel. This decision comes at a time when citizens are struggling due to rising fuel prices and supply issues across the world. To reduce the burden on the public, the government has taken this step to lower fuel costs.
As per the latest decision, the excise duty on petrol has been reduced from around ₹13 per litre to ₹3 per litre. Similarly, the excise duty on diesel has been completely reduced to zero. With this move, fuel prices across the country are expected to come down by up to ₹10 per litre, providing direct savings to consumers.
However, state governments will continue to charge VAT, so fuel prices may slightly vary from state to state. Experts believe that this reduction may also help in lowering transportation costs, which could further reduce the prices of essential goods. Overall, this decision is expected to bring some relief to the common people.
