The Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has decided that all ministers will take a 50% salary cut for a limited period. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting, with ministers voluntarily agreeing to forgo half of their salaries. This move is aimed at addressing long-pending financial dues owed to retired government employees.
According to officials, the government plans to utilise these funds to clear pending payments such as pensions and gratuity within a targeted timeframe of 100 days. The initiative is being seen as a significant step toward easing financial pressure and prioritising the welfare of retirees who have been awaiting their rightful benefits.
