

India’s art and sculpture community is in deep mourning following the demise of renowned sculptor Ram Sutar. The legendary artist breathed his last at his son’s residence in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, due to age-related health issues. He was 99 years old.
Confirming the news, his son Anil Sutar informed the media about his father’s passing.
Ram Sutar was one of India’s most celebrated sculptors, best known for creating iconic monuments that symbolized national pride. His most notable works include the Statue of Unity in Gujarat the world’s tallest statue and the grand Dr. B. R. Ambedkar statue in Hyderabad.
Born on February 19, 1925, in Gondur village, Maharashtra, Ram Sutar dedicated his life to art and left behind an unparalleled legacy in Indian sculpture.
In recognition of his extraordinary contribution to Indian art, he was honored with the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016.
His passing marks the end of an era, but his masterpieces will continue to inspire generations.
