

The Ramoji Excellence Awards 2025 ceremony was held grandly in Hyderabad. Marking the birth anniversary of media legend Ramoji Rao, seven individuals from different fields were honored for their remarkable contribution to society. These awards aim to recognise people who are creating positive change through their dedication and service.
The awardees this year include Amala Ruia (Rural Development), Srikanth Bolla (Youth Icon), Gali Madhaveelatha (Science & Technology), Aakash Tandon (Humanitarian Service), Satuapati Prasanna Sri (Art & Culture), Jaideep Hardikar (Journalism), and Pallavi Ghosh (Women Empowerment). The ceremony was graced by the Vice President of India, the Governors of Telugu states, the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Union Ministers, and several distinguished guests.
Amala Ruia, popularly known as the “Water Mother of India,” was honored for her extraordinary work in addressing water scarcity. Through the construction of hundreds of check dams, she helped revive groundwater levels and transformed the lives of more than 18 lakh people across thousands of villages in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
Overcoming disability from childhood, Srikanth Bolla went on to become the first visually impaired student to study Brain and Cognitive Science at MIT. Rejecting lucrative job offers from global companies, he founded Bollant Industries in 2012 to provide employment opportunities to thousands of differently-abled individuals. His journey continues to inspire many.
Gali Madhaveelatha played a key engineering role in the world-renowned Chenab Railway Arch Bridge project. Despite extreme climate challenges and tough working conditions, she worked for 17 years as a geotechnical consultant to help complete this monumental structure, which now stands as an engineering marvel of India.
Dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children, Aakash Tandon established Pehchaan The Street School. Starting with just five volunteers on a Delhi footpath, the initiative has now grown to 10 centers, providing free education, digital learning, arts, music, and life skills to over 1,600 children.
Prof. Satuapati Prasanna Sri, a respected academic, was recognized for her efforts in preserving tribal languages and culture. She developed written scripts for 19 tribal languages and has conducted extensive research on indigenous lifestyles, earning national and international appreciation.
Journalist Jaideep Hardikar has spent more than two decades documenting India’s agrarian crisis, farmer suicides, and rural distress. His powerful reporting brought national attention to the struggles of farmers and contributed to several policy conversations. He has written influential books like Ramrao and A Village Awaits Doom.
Working tirelessly against human trafficking, Pallavi Ghosh has rescued thousands of young girls and children. Through her NGO Impact and Dialogue, she has been providing counseling, legal support, and rehabilitation for victims. Despite threats and challenges, she continues to fight for vulnerable women and children.
