The Andhra Pradesh government has reached another important milestone in completing the Polavaram Project, which is considered the lifeline of the state. The construction of the 1372-meter-long diaphragm wall, a key part of the project, has been completed in a short time. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu praised the irrigation department officials and engineers for their hard work and dedication. He also thanked the central agencies and Polavaram Project Authority representatives for their support.
The Chief Minister noted that due to the negligence of the previous government, the earlier diaphragm wall was damaged, which led to an additional cost of ₹1000 crore for reconstruction. With the completion of the diaphragm wall, the construction of the main structure, the Earth Cum Rock Fill (ECRF) dam, will now speed up.
As announced earlier, the government is committed to completing all the works and dedicating the Polavaram Project to the nation before the 2027 Pushkaralu. This development marks a significant step toward achieving that goal.
