Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made it clear that there is no place for violence in Telangana. He called on the Maoists who are still in hiding to lay down their arms and join the mainstream of life and become participants in the reconstruction of Telangana. He said that if top Maoist leader Ganapathi surrenders, the state government will be responsible for his health and safety. In a program held in Hyderabad, 130 Maoists surrendered with 124 weapons, a rare event in the state's history.
The CM said that those who surrendered would be provided with health security cards, better medical services, and facilities like Indiramma houses. He said that if necessary, government land would also be provided to build houses in their native villages. However, he made it clear that the government would not tolerate violence on Telangana soil under any circumstances. He said that a decision would be taken on the withdrawal of cases against surrendered Maoists on a case-by-case basis.
