The shooting of ‘Varanasi’, a highly anticipated film starring Mahesh Babu and directed by S. S. Rajamouli, is currently underway in Hyderabad. Recent reports suggest that the underwater sets originally built for Devara, starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr., are being reused for this project.
The film, which also features Priyanka Chopra Jonas, has already generated massive global buzz. Although key sequences were initially planned to be shot at international locations, the plans were reportedly cancelled due to the prevailing situation in the Middle East. As a result, the team is now filming those sequences using the underwater sets constructed for ‘Devara’ in Hyderabad.
The film’s music is being composed by M. M. Keeravani, and it is jointly produced by S. S. Karthikeya and K. L. Narayana. Industry sources indicate that reusing the ‘Devara’ sets will help save both time and production costs. ‘Varanasi’ is being developed on a grand scale, featuring time travel and high-octane action elements. This strategic decision is expected to ensure a smooth shooting process, while fans have high expectations for this pan-India project.
