Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has firmly dismissed rumours of petrol, diesel, and LPG shortages, assuring that the state has more than adequate stocks for the next three months. Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad along with Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, he clarified that supply is currently exceeding demand. Oil Marketing Companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum have significantly increased supply, with 17,898 KL delivered against a demand of 17,246 KL on the day of the briefing. Despite a 25% surge in demand due to panic buying, supplies are being maintained at higher levels, ensuring uninterrupted availability.
The Minister stated that an additional 16,000 KL buffer stock and 1,200 extra tankers have been deployed to maintain smooth distribution. He clarified that temporary “no stock” signs at some outlets are due to logistical delays, not actual shortages. Authorities have warned against storing fuel in cans, calling it illegal and dangerous. Across Telangana, including Hyderabad’s 596 petrol bunks, all outlets are fully operational, with control rooms monitoring supplies round-the-clock. While domestic LPG is sufficiently available, issues with commercial LPG cylinders are being addressed. The government has seized nearly 2,952 illegally used cylinders and urged citizens to avoid panic buying and spreading misinformation.
