The Higher Education Department of Andhra Pradesh has issued new regulations for private coaching centers across the state. As per the new rules, coaching centers are permitted to operate for a maximum of five hours per day and are not allowed to conduct classes during school and college hours or on holidays. The move aims to ensure that students are not overburdened and can focus on their regular academic education.
The guidelines also state that if a student discontinues a course midway, the remaining fee must be refunded, and coaching centers are strictly prohibited from retaining original certificates. Strict penalties have been introduced for violations, with a fine of ₹50,000 for the first offense and ₹1 lakh for repeat violations. A monitoring committee comprising the SP and DEO will handle complaints and ensure enforcement of the rules.
