Municipal elections in the second week of February

The state government is considering holding elections for all Urban Local Bodies at the same time, including the GHMC, whose term is set to expire in February. The plan is to complete the election process before the academic examination season begins.

However, the government is likely to exclude the Khammam and Warangal municipal corporations, along with two municipalities in Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts, as their governing bodies have tenure valid until April.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has begun preparatory work to stay election-ready at any time. Efforts are underway to complete the voter list preparation by the second week of January.
