A large number of devotees have thronged Medaram in Mulugu district due to the Sankranti holiday rush. Heavy vehicular traffic has been reported between Pasra and Medaram as devotees arrive to offer advance prayers to Sammakka and Saralamma. Officials estimate that around two lakh devotees will visit the shrine for darshan.
Today, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with a team of ministers, will visit Medaram. Special prayers will be performed for Sammakka and Saralamma in the afternoon, after which the ministers will review the ongoing master plan development works. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to visit Medaram on January 18 and 19.
