The Maoist Central Committee has planned a nationwide Bharat Bandh for this month's 23rd. The bandh call was made in response to a recent incident in which senior Maoist members, including Hidma and Raje, were allegedly killed in what authorities described as an encounter. The Maoist leaders issued statements claiming that the killings were brutally executed, which led to widespread criticism from their own ranks.
The Maoist Central Committee claimed in their official statement that the encounter was staged and that security forces had committed an act of cruelty. They urged supporters in various areas to voice their disapproval, claiming that the deaths amounted to "targeted killings." The bandh call aims to mobilize public opinion against the incident and call attention to what they claim are human rights violations.
In a public statement, Maoist Central Committee spokesperson Abhay reaffirmed their position, accusing the police of using excessive force and fabricating events. According to him, the bandh is intended to be a symbolic expression of disapproval and a means of resistance. Security agencies in a number of states have increased their vigilance in response to the announcement in order to prepare for potential disruptions and guarantee public safety during the bandh.
