The Telangana government has taken up the development of the Bhadrachalam Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple on a prestigious scale, aiming to restore and enhance the historic temple known as “Dakshina Ayodhya”. A three phase renovation plan worth ₹586 crore has been approved, with ₹276 crore allocated for the first phase, scheduled for completion by Sri Rama Navami 2027. Restoration work will begin on October 26.
As part of the project, surrounding subsidiary shrines will be reconstructed with stone structures, while the main temple built by Bhakta Ramadasu will be preserved. During renovation, arjitha sevas will be temporarily shifted to Mithila Stadium, while darshan will continue as usual. The temple, which houses 15 sub temples, 75 idols, and 3 gopurams, is also being reviewed for further development. A high-level review meeting chaired by Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy is scheduled to discuss the project.
