Following actor Vijay’s reported rise to the post of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, discussions about film personalities entering politics have gained attention. Rumours about actors Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan exploring political careers have also been circulating. Against this backdrop, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, husband of actress Nayanthara, was asked whether she might enter politics and contest the 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The question came during an event organised to mark World Food Day, where Vignesh attended as the chief guest at a food distribution programme.
Responding to the question, Vignesh said that Nayanthara is currently enjoying motherhood and that their attention is focused on their children. He explained that they are dedicating their time to family and professional commitments, which brings them considerable happiness. He also spoke about the growing concern over elderly parents being left in old-age homes, saying such situations are painful to witness. Emphasising that parents deserve respect and care, he said looking after them is the responsibility of their children. Vignesh’s remarks did not confirm any political plans for Nayanthara.
