New details are emerging about the Israeli air force's massive attacks on the Iranian leadership. International media has revealed that Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, who is considered the next leader of Iran, was injured in the Israeli attacks on February 28 as part of "Operation Lion's Roar". Reports say that he survived the attack. It is reported that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with about 40 key leaders and military officers, were killed in the same operation. Mujtaba's wife Zahra also lost her life in the attack.
It is still unclear whether Mujtaba was with his father in the Ayatollah's compound at the time of the attack. There is also no official information on the severity of his injuries. Mojtaba is seen as Khamenei's successor due to his strong influence over Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). However, some members of the Guardian Council oppose the transfer of power. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump also does not accept the transfer of power to Mojtaba, international analysts say.
