

Andhra Pradesh government held a detailed discussion with Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil on key issues related to drinking water supply, river conservation, and preparations for the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams. The meeting focused on maintaining the sanctity of the Godavari River, addressing pollution concerns, improving sewage treatment systems, and managing environmental pressures during large scale pilgrim gatherings.
The Union Minister appreciated Andhra Pradesh’s plan for conducting environmentally sustainable Pushkarams and suggested adopting best practices from initiatives like Namami Gange. He advised officials to study successful riverfront management models in cities such as Surat, Varanasi, and Prayagraj. He also assured that a comprehensive proposal from the state would be taken up for consideration at the Union Cabinet level and responded positively to the request regarding Jal Jeevan Mission support.
