Iran has reportedly intensified attacks targeting U.S. and allied military assets in the Gulf region, including locations in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. According to international media reports, Tehran launched advanced missiles and drones during recent strikes aimed at Israeli and U.S. positions. Notably, Iran is said to have used the Sejjil missile, often referred to as the “Dancing Missile,” marking its first use in an active conflict scenario.
The Sejjil missile is an indigenous Iranian ballistic missile with a range of over 2,000 kilometers and the capability to carry a 700-kg warhead. Its maneuvering ability at high altitudes allows it to evade missile defense systems such as the Iron Dome, earning it the nickname “Dancing Missile.” According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the missile is about 18 meters long, 1.25 meters in diameter, and weighs approximately 23,600 kilograms. Iran began developing the missile in the 1990s, conducting its first test in 2008 and several subsequent tests to enhance its navigation and strike capabilities.
