Iran has temporarily closed its airspace for commercial flight operations following ongoing violent protests across the country. As a result, Indian airlines have issued advisories to passengers, informing them about flight diversions and cancellations. Air India stated that, considering the current situation and prioritizing passenger and crew safety, some flights passing through Iranian airspace are being rerouted, while services where alternative routes are not feasible have been cancelled. The airline urged passengers to regularly check for updates and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused, reiterating that safety remains its top priority.
Similarly, IndiGo also released an advisory, stating that the closure of Iranian airspace has impacted certain international services. The airline said it is continuously monitoring the situation and operating flights through alternative routes wherever possible, requesting passengers to cooperate during this period. Meanwhile, the situation in Iran has become increasingly volatile due to sustained protests, with reports suggesting possible military action by the United States. In light of these developments, India has issued an alert, advising Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country using available transport options and urging citizens to avoid travel to Iran until further notice.
