The killing of Indian student Shivank Awasthi in Canada has sent shockwaves through the student community. The incident occurred near a university campus in Toronto’s Scarborough area, where the young student was fatally shot by unidentified assailants.
The Indian Consulate in Toronto expressed deep shock over the incident and assured full support to the victim’s family. In an official statement, the consulate said it is coordinating with local authorities to provide all necessary assistance during this difficult time.
According to police, the shooting took place on Tuesday afternoon near Highland Creek Trail. Shivank, a student of the University of Toronto, was found dead when officers arrived at the scene. The suspects reportedly fled the area immediately after the attack. As investigations continue, the university campus was temporarily closed, leaving students shaken and concerned about safety.
The incident comes amid rising concerns, especially after another recent case involving the killing of an Indian woman in Canada, for which police are still searching for the suspect.
