The Ministry of Electronics and IT has approved 22 new proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) with an investment of ₹41,863 crore. These projects are expected to generate production worth ₹2.58 lakh crore and create nearly 33,800 direct jobs.
Earlier, 24 proposals with an investment outlay of ₹12,704 crore were cleared under the scheme. Once implemented, these projects will significantly reduce India’s dependence on imports for critical electronic components.
With Apple looking to expand manufacturing outside China, several new vendors supplying components to Apple have applied under the scheme. Companies such as Tata Electronics, Foxconn, Dixon, Hindalco, Motherson, and Samsung Display Noida are among the applicants.
Major investments include ₹27,166 crore for mobile components, ₹7,377 crore for PCBs, and ₹2,922 crore for lithium-ion cell manufacturing.
